There is lots of material about the benefits of weighted blankets for kids with autism, cerebral palsy, sensory processing disorder, and other medical issues out there on the web. Lulu used one as a small toddler and really benefited from it.

A lovely 5-lb blanket that I recently collaborated with a friend on making for her son.
